Rep. Nisly reflects on the 2015 legislative session

STATEHOUSE — “At the start of the 2015 legislative session, House Republicans made a commitment to pass an honestly balanced budget that protects Hoosier taxpayers while continuing to strengthen our education system. As a freshman legislator, I was eager to work with my colleagues towards this goal, and I am proud to say we were able to deliver on these promises, along with addressing other important issues facing our community and state.

“By managing our finances responsibly, we were able to make the largest investment to K-12 education in our state’s history, accounting for more than half of the entire budget and a $470 million increase from the previous biennium. Along with increased school funding, we also worked to improve our state’s transportation infrastructure by including a $200 million appropriation to fund critical highway projects across Indiana.”
