STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) has announced the interim study committee assignments for the Indiana House of Representatives. State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) has been selected to serve on three study committees.
“I am honored to be appointed as the vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance,” said Rep. Lehman. “I look forward to bringing my experience as chair of the Insurance Committee as well as diving deeper and addressing some of the financial issues impacting our state.”
Once the legislative session has ended, the Legislative Council meets to discuss and assign topics for committees to study throughout the interim. Most interim committees will meet from July through October. Interim study committees with a specific focus are similar to committees during session. Members from the public and experts give testimony on each topic assigned to the committee.
In addition to the Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance, Rep. Lehman will serve on the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health and Human Services and the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy.
“Interim study committees give legislators the opportunity to build on the progress made during the previous legislative session while laying the groundwork for next year,” said Speaker Bosma. “These committees are an integral part of the legislative process and allow us more time to properly vet the issues which matter most to Hoosiers.”
