Note to the Press: Please include the following statements from Vigo County legislators in your coverage of the Indiana State Budget Committee formally approving $66 million to renovate and expand Indiana State University's Bailey College of Engineering and Technology. State Reps. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute), Alan Morrison (R-Brazil) and Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) voted in support of the funding for ISU during the 2023 legislative session as part of the new two-year state budget bill:
STATEHOUSE (Oct. 27, 2023) – "The Bailey College of Engineering and Technology is doing a great job of preparing the next generation for careers in some of the state's largest industries. This state funding will help them train even more students for high-demand and high-paying jobs," said State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute).
"We've heard from so many employers about the need for more Hoosiers with the skills to fill today's technically advanced jobs. With Bailey College of Engineering and Technology alumni going to work for some of our state's top employers, it's important we support them in filling Indiana's talent pipeline," said State Rep. Alan Morrison (R-Brazil).
"ISU has terrific programs for career paths like aviation and computer engineering. I look forward to seeing what this investment can do to further prepare students for some of our fastest-growing industries," said State Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville).
