Note to the Press – State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton), chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement in response to the state revenue forecast:
STATEHOUSE (Dec. 17, 2024) – "Today's revenue forecast indicates that state revenues will continue to grow along with the Hoosier economy. However, challenges lie ahead as we grapple with unsustainable growth in the Medicaid budget, which will hamper our ability to invest in other areas. Fortunately, Indiana's fiscal footing remains sound thanks to years of prudent financial management, and although the upcoming budget will be tighter than the past few cycles, Indiana is not facing a deficit situation like many other states. My colleagues and I will continue discussions with Governor-elect Braun's administration on how we can deliver critical services to Hoosiers in an efficient manner while maintaining sufficient reserves."
