Note to the Press – State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton), chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement in response to the state's fiscal year 2025 report:

STATEHOUSE (July 15, 2025) – "Today's report shows a better budget outlook than what we expected at the close of the legislative session in April. We're cautiously optimistic about the state's economic growth for the new fiscal year, but with programs like Medicaid continuing to increase in cost, it was imperative that we passed a lean, fiscally responsible state budget. This budget marks the seventh-consecutive biennial budget that was balanced under Indiana Republican leadership. Indiana's commitment to strong stewardship of tax dollars is why we remain on solid financial footing. We will continue seeking ways to improve government efficiency and make sure we're living within our means just like Hoosier families have to do."
