Note to the Press — State Rep. Michelle Davis (R-Whiteland) issued the following statement in response to the United States Supreme Court's ruling in West Virginia v. B. P. J. and Little v. Hecox, on June 30, 2026. The ruling upholds state laws barring biological males from competing in girls' and women's sports. In 2022, Davis authored a law protecting fair competition in girls' sports by prohibiting biological males from competing on female teams at the K-12 level. In 2025, she championed another law extending these protections to the collegiate level. For her legislative efforts on the issue, Davis was invited to the White House in 2025 for the signing of an executive order titled "No Men in Women's Sports."
STATEHOUSE (June 30, 2026) – "The Supreme Court's ruling today protects fair competition and integrity in girls' athletics, recognizing what every parent and coach already knows: Biological males and biological females are created equal, but they possess different genetic strengths and weaknesses. Because of these differences, biological girls should compete with girls and biological boys should compete with boys. Title IX guarantees women athletes have an equal opportunity to compete, earn top spots and obtain scholarships on a level playing field. Today, the Court ensured the equality of women that so many have fought for remains intact when it comes to athletic competition."
