Note to the Press – State Rep. Julie McGuire (R-Indianapolis), whose legislative district includes Beech Grove, issued the following statement after Officer Brian Elliott was killed in the line of duty:
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 17, 2026) – "I join the Beech Grove community in mourning the loss of one of our finest. Officer Brian Elliott was a Beech Grove native who gave his life to protect fellow Hoosiers. This is a senseless tragedy, and I'm praying for Officer Elliott's family, the Beech Grove Police Department and the law enforcement community. I also wish a speedy recovery for the officer who was shot and is recovering in the hospital."
