Note to the Press – House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) issued the following statement in response to the 2022 fiscal closeout report issued today. According to State Auditor Tera Klutz, Indiana closed the 2022 fiscal year with reserves of $6.1 billion:
STATEHOUSE (July 15, 2022) – “Indiana's strong fiscal year closeout is nothing short of impressive and reaffirms why House Republicans responsibly pushed through a $1.1 billion tax-cut plan, the largest in state history, earlier this year. These new results once again position us to do more for Hoosier taxpayers while continuing critical investments, keeping debt low and preserving our state's fiscal safety net. Hoosiers continue to struggle under shockingly high inflation as our nation's leadership continues to fail us. We intend to provide relief by approving an automatic taxpayer refund, which will put $225 back into the pockets of all taxpayers."
