STATEHOUSE (April 22, 2021) – "Throughout session, I remained steadfast in my commitment to Hoosier children and their families. We took major steps to streamline processes for the Department of Child Services to provide vital assistance to our state's most vulnerable and we will study new ways we can protect these kids in the future. Lawmakers also removed barriers for students seeking training for higher-paying jobs, and worked to end generational poverty by exempting a student's income earned through post-secondary degrees or work-based opportunities from their families government benefits.
"As a state representative, my goal has and always will be to ensure every child has a safe place to call home, a loving family and access to the resources necessary to grow up healthy and strong. There is still work to be done, but I am proud of all we were able to accomplish this legislative session."
