STATEHOUSE (Aug. 18, 2022) – “Reading is the foundation of learning for every subject. With 1 in 5 Hoosier third graders below reading proficiency, more must be done to better prepare students to be successful inside and outside the classroom. Lily Endowment Inc.'s investment and partnership with the Indiana Department of Education is a tremendous step forward and will undoubtedly help the state meet its goal of having 95 percent of Hoosier students pass IREAD-3 by 2027. Teachers can be trained in the proven method of the Science of Reading – and receive a stipend – that will have a lasting impact on students across the state."
