Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis), chair of the House Education Committee, provided the following statement about the Indiana Department of Education and The Mind Trust, an education nonprofit, launching Indiana Learns, a statewide program providing students up to $1,000 to improve their math and reading skills through tutoring or other out-of-school activities:
STATEHOUSE (Aug. 24, 2022) – "Too many Hoosier students had their learning disrupted by the pandemic, and they fell behind academically as a result. Indiana Learns gives parents access to high-quality tutoring and other supplemental learning materials to help their children get back on track. Qualifying families can use the money to select an approved outside vendor that provides in-person or online tutoring to help boost their students' reading and math skills."
