STATEHOUSE (March 14, 2024) – State Rep. Alex Zimmerman (R-North Vernon) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2024 legislative session.
As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined Zimmerman on the House floor to learn about the legislative process.
"As a young student, I remember paging at the Statehouse, which really opened my eyes to the world of state government and public service," Zimmerman said. "I hope students who joined us for a day of session walked away with a similar experience and I hope to see more students from our area participate next session."
Area students serving as pages during the 2024 legislative session were Elizabeth McKittrick from Osgood, who attends South Ripley High School, Landon Saylor from Milan, who attends South Ripley High School, and Sophia Sullivan, from Osgood, who attends Jac-Cen-Del Junior-Senior High School.
Students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2025 legislative session. Contact Zimmerman's Statehouse office at h67@iga.in.gov or 317-232-9600 for more information.
