STATEHOUSE (June 24, 2016) — State Rep. Tim Wesco (R-Osceola) will be serving on the Interim Study Committee on Employment and Labor.
In preparation for the 2017 legislative session, which begins in January, interim study committee members meet to examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and identify potential legislation.
“Indiana’s unemployment rate has dropped 0.2 percent in the last month, with our economy making strong gains in trade, transportation and utilities,” Wesco said. “As a member of the Interim Study Committee on Employment and Labor, I will continue to find ways to support job creators and entrepreneurs as they expand and grow in our state, and provide more opportunities to Hoosier workers.”
Last year, Wesco supported the early repayment of the federal unemployment loan, which saved Hoosier job creators $327 million in penalties.
Wesco said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are also welcomed to attend.
Wesco will also serve on the Interim Study Committee on Elections.
