Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) (left) and Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) (right) pair sneakers with their suits to help kick off February as National Cancer Prevention Month on Jan. 29, 2020, at the Statehouse. The Indiana House of Representatives participated in the Suits and Sneakers Challenge, an annual event hosted by the American Cancer Society and National Association of Basketball Coaches, to help raise awareness. Barrett authored legislation this session that would require insurance companies to cover screenings for colorectal cancer – the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. – by age 45 instead of 50. To raise money for the ACS, Saunders hosts an annual bake sale and silent auction at the Statehouse, which will be held on Monday, Feb. 24.
