STATEHOUSE (Dec. 21, 2021) – Local House Republican lawmakers invite constituents to complete the 2022 issue survey to provide feedback ahead of the legislative session starting Jan. 4.
Vigo County residents will receive mailed copies of their state representative's issue survey, but can save a stamp and go online now to complete it. To get started, constituents can visit their member's website and then click on the red "Take My Survey" button at one of the following links:
"Learning what's on the minds of Hoosiers in our community is important when considering new legislation," Borders said. "I invite residents to share their thoughts and ideas as we head into session."
To complete a member's survey, constituents must be a resident of the district and submit it by the Dec. 31 deadline. The survey questions are intended to reflect issues that may come before the Legislature and should not be interpreted as a reflection of their legislator's views.
Constituents can determine and confirm who their state representative is online by visiting the Indiana General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov, clicking on the "Find Your Legislator" tab and entering their home address. Constituents can then visit indianahouserepublicans.com/members and view their member's webpage to take the survey.
Heaton said the public can participate in the legislative process by completing the survey, testifying in committee and staying connected with their state legislator. Constituents can visit iga.in.gov to watch livestreams of session and committee meetings, view archived meetings, and access meeting calendars and meeting agendas.
"Government runs best when it works for the people," Heaton said. "Along with providing feedback, Hoosiers can come to the Statehouse to follow the legislative session or watch online to learn more about the issues our state is addressing."
"It's my goal to keep residents informed on potential new laws that affect them, as well as available state programs and resources," Morrison said. "In addition to taking my survey, I invite neighbors in my district to follow session, contact my office with any input and sign up for my email newsletter."
Constituents can contact Borders at h45@iga.in.gov, Heaton at h46@iga.in.gov and Morrison at h42@iga.in.gov with questions and comments, or by calling 1-800-382-9841. Hoosiers can also sign up to receive regular email news updates by visiting their member's webpage and entering their email address.
The 2022 legislative session begins in January and must conclude by mid-March.
