VanNatter welcomes Carroll County student pages to the Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (May 9, 2023) – State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program.  

As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined VanNatter on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.

"This is a great way for students to jumpstart their civic engagement and learn how their state government works," VanNatter said. "It also helps young Hoosiers develop an understanding of how laws are created and encourages them to stay involved moving forward."

These area students served as pages during the 2023 legislative session:

• Daniel Brower, from Delphi, is a home-schooled student;
• David Burkhart, from Delphi, attends Delphi Community High School;
• Cooper Cross, from Delphi, attends Delphi Community High School;
• Darius Keeney, from Flora, attends Indiana Connections Academy;
• Alivia Meador, from Burlington, attends Carroll Jr-Sr High School; and
• Benjamin, James and Isabelle Mummert, from Cutler, are home-schooled students.

VanNatter said students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2024 legislative session.
