STATEHOUSE (Nov. 30, 2018) – State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) was reappointed to serve as chair of the House Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee.
As a small business owner, VanNatter says he understands many of the challenges facing Hoosier entrepreneurs and takes his experience to the committee, where he has served as chairman since 2016.
“Indiana’s unemployment rate currently ranks ninth in the nation,” VanNatter said. “As chair of the Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee, I look forward to continuing our work developing and studying policies that strengthen our economy, support job creators and employees alike, and make Indiana a destination for businesses looking to thrive and grow.”
Standing committee appointments are made biennially after each election. Committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. The site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
According to VanNatter, committees provide members of the public, experts and lawmakers an opportunity to testify and share input on legislative proposals, which often impact local communities. Click here to download the list of committee and leadership appointments.
The 2019 legislative session begins Jan. 3 and by law must conclude by April 30.
