STATEHOUSE (Dec. 8, 2016) – State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) presented a Sagamore of the Wabash award to Linda Brammell Wednesday for her years of public service and outstanding achievement in Clinton County.
“For nearly four decades, Linda has devoted herself to serving her fellow Hoosiers,” VanNatter said. “She has had an immeasurable impact on Clinton County through her work and is truly deserving of this recognition.”
VanNatter presented the award to Brammell during her retirement party at the Clinton County Courthouse.
A lifelong resident of Clinton County and Frankfort High School graduate, Brammell began her career in the Selective Service System in 1965. VanNatter said she performed the unenviable job of drafting some of her classmates for the Vietnam War, but she served the country with integrity and pride for more than a decade in that role.
Following the war, Brammell served in various local government roles including, deputy clerk, office manager for the county prosecutor, court reporter, bailiff and recorder. She is retiring following her sixth term as county recorder.
Dating back to the mid-1940s, the Sagamore of the Wabash award is the highest honor the governor can bestow and is presented to Hoosiers who have rendered distinguished service to the state, contributing greatly to Indiana’s rich history.
