STATEHOUSE (Aug. 12, 2016) — Two local farms were recognized on Friday with Hoosier Homestead awards for 100 years or more of family farm ownership, according to State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo).
The Fellows Farm, located in Carroll County, has been in operation since 1915 and the Snyder Farm, located in Clinton County, has been in operation since 1916. Both received Hoosier Homestead centennial awards.
“Indiana’s agriculture industry is a critical part of our economy and local heritage,” VanNatter said. “Owning a farm for more than a century is a significant milestone and these families are truly worthy of this recognition.”
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more.
These local families were recognized during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair.
Two awards ceremonies are held each year, in spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
