STATEHOUSE (Oct. 6, 2016) – Local communities recently received more than $3.7 million in federal funding to improve infrastructure, according to State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo).
The Indiana Department of Transportation awarded federal funding in the amount of $1.3 million to Clinton County to replace a local bridge and more than $2.4 million to Cass County to complete Phase 4 of the reconstruction project on County Road 400S.
“With these additional funds, our local governments will be able to move forward with infrastructure improvement projects, which drive economic development,” VanNatter said. “Creating a responsible, long-term solution to fund our state’s roads will be a priority of the General Assembly in the upcoming legislative session.”
INDOT distributed nearly $80 million in federal transportation funding to 64 rural cities, towns and counties to invest in local road and bridge improvements and sidewalk and trail projects. Combined with local funds, close to $135 million is being invested in infrastructure in communities across Indiana.
