STATEHOUSE (Dec. 16, 2016) — State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) was recently selected to serve on the House Committee on Ways and Means, House Committee on Education and House Committee on Elections and Apportionment.

“Every session, legislative committees meet to gather public testimony and hear from industry experts about proposed legislation,” Thompson said. “This session, I’ll join fellow committee members in crafting the state’s two-year budget, which invests in priorities like education and infrastructure. It’s critical we continue to live within the state’s means, while also working to develop a long-term plan that funds Indiana’s roads and bridges for years to come.”

Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 4, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2017 legislative session.

Standing committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
