STATEHOUSE (June 27, 2016) — State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) will be serving on the Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy and the Interim Study Committee on Pension Management Oversight.
In preparation for the 2017 legislative session, which begins in January, interim study committee members meet to examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and identify potential legislation.
“This past session, I supported legislation improving our local tax structure and providing an extra check for retired Hoosiers in Indiana’s public pension funds,” Thompson said. “Serving on these summer study committees, I will work to find new ways to continue fostering a simpler and more transparent tax system in Indiana, while also investing in our pension programs.”
Thompson said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are also welcome to attend.
Thompson will also serve on the Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority.
