Note to the press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton), chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, and member of the Indiana State Budget Committee, in your coverage of the updated two-year state budget plan. Thompson authored House Bill 1001 outlining the state's next biennial budget, which will be considered by all lawmakers ahead of the April 29 session deadline.

STATEHOUSE (April 26, 2023) – "The budget bill is chalked full of opportunities for all Hoosiers. It is a deliberate and thoughtful approach to cutting taxes while taking care of our state's needs. With Indiana's solid fiscal footing, in the coming years we continue making strong investments in students and families, education and public health. We can set our state up for future growth by supporting economic development, housing and infrastructure initiatives – all the while paying down debt and maintaining healthy reserves. As we near the end of the legislative session, I look forward to working with my fellow legislators to get this budget plan across the finish line and to the governor."
