Note to the Press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) in your coverage of Thursday's passage of House Bill 1001 out of the House Ways and Means Committee, which he serves on as chair of the K-12 Education Subcommittee. The bill, supported by Thompson, outlines Indiana's next two-year $36.3 billion budget proposal. House Bill 1001 now moves to the full House for consideration:

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 12, 2021) – "Indiana has a strong reputation for being fiscally responsible while still funding Hoosier priorities, and this year will be no different. Education remains our top investment, as we work to build on our commitment to students and educators with funding increases. Thanks to our thoughtful budgeting over the years, Indiana can continue making sound investments, without taking on unnecessary debt that would burden future generations."
