STATEHOUSE (Jan. 23, 2019) — Lizton recently received a $760,000 federal grant for drinking water system improvements, according to State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton).
Thompson said the grant will be used to install a new drinking water distribution system throughout Lizton.
“Installing the new water distribution system will be a great addition for Lizton,” Thompson said. “These improvements will allow the town to connect to the clean water supply.”
According to Thompson, funds are distributed to rural communities through the Community Development Block Grant Program to assist local governments with infrastructure, community revitalization and long-term development projects.
More than $10.8 million in federal grant funding was awarded to 19 rural communities through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Communities applied for grants across four sub programs including the Main Street Revitalization Program, Public Facilities Program, Stormwater Improvement Program and Wastewater Drinking Water Program.
