STATEHOUSE (Aug. 25, 2021) – The Dillon Farm in Hendricks County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1917, according to State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) and State Sen. John B. Crane (R-Avon).
"Hoosier farms are the foundation of our community and state," Thompson said. "Without the hard work of local famers like the Dillon family, many of the goods and services we depend on would be hard to come by. Congratulations to all the Hoosier Homestead award recipients, and thank you for your contributions to Indiana."
The Dillon Farm was among 73 recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their commitment to Indiana agriculture.
"Having longstanding farms, such as the Dillon's, in our backyard is an honor," Crane said. "They have stood the test of time and continue to be an important part of our agricultural community. I wish them all the best in the future."
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more. Families can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
