Teshka sworn in as new state representative for House District 7

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 3, 2020) – Jake Teshka of South Bend took the oath of office yesterday to serve as state representative for House District 7.

Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush administered the oath via Zoom video during a virtual swearing-in ceremony.

"As a long-time public servant, it is an honor to now serve our district at the Statehouse," Teshka said. "I am energized and ready to bring my skills to the table as lawmakers take on important issues facing our community and state. Looking ahead, I am committed to working with all my colleagues and state leaders to help keep Indiana on the right path."

Born and raised in the St. Joseph County area, Teshka graduated from Saint Joseph High School in South Bend. Teshka has a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Saint Joseph’s College and a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University South Bend.

Teshka later went on to work in a number of private and public sector roles. More recently, he served as Common Council Representative for the city of South Bend's 5th District. He also works as a business development officer for Interra Credit Union.

Teshka, his wife and their two children live on South Bend's southeast side, where they are active church members and volunteers.
