STATEHOUSE (July 19, 2017) – State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville) is asking Hoosier employers to help identify duplicative or redundant state reporting requirements using a new online portal.
“We hope small businesses can help us identify redundant state reporting requirements,” Sullivan said. “Unnecessary and time consuming requirements can have an adverse effect on businesses. We can support a thriving economy by making sure government isn’t hindering employers from operating efficiently.”
The web-based survey is the result of legislation Sullivan voted in favor of this year with the support of the Indiana Economic Development Corp. Sullivan said the easy-to-use portal is part of an overall effort to further reduce unnecessary government regulations and costs, and streamline processes.
Small-business owners and local governments can now visit www.iedc.in.gov/programs and click on “Duplicative Reporting” to fill out the survey. The form asks the user to identify situations where they are required by state law, rule or guideline to submit similar information to at least two state agencies. Duplicative information can include notifications, tax reports, employment data and other statistical data. Sullivan said the confidential survey is user-friendly and only takes five minutes to complete.
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce recently named Sullivan as one of five 2017 Indiana Chamber Legislative Champions. She earned a 100 percent on the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s annual Legislative Vote Analysis for her support of pro-jobs, pro-economy legislation.
“I will continue to support pro-growth policies and less regulation so Hoosier companies can thrive and grow,” Sullivan said. “Fostering a competitive business climate is a priority for myself and my fellow lawmakers.”
Earlier this year, U.S. News and World Report ranked Indiana as the best-run state in America based on fiscal responsibility, streamlined operations and enhanced transparency. Sullivan said she would like to continue the state’s momentum by improving government efficiency, which ultimately saves taxpayer dollars and helps the economy.
