STATEHOUSE (March 12, 2021) – State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville) recently honored Evansville native Ashlyn Johnson with a House resolution at the Statehouse for being named an Indianapolis NBA Rising Star All-Star.

Sullivan, a co-author of House Resolution 12, said "Rising Stars" are high school seniors who demonstrate leadership in their schools and communities and receive a $2,100 scholarship. Johnson was 1 of 21 Indiana students selected for the scholarship.

"Ashlyn represents our community in such a positive way through volunteer work and her high school involvement, and she is on a path to be part of the next generation of Hoosier leaders," Sullivan said. "Seeing our youth have a passion to serve others is inspiring, and I believe she will continue to showcase the spirit of this scholarship for many years to come."

Johnson is a part of the high school track and cheerleading teams and part of the Student Leadership Athletic Council. Johnson is active in Dance Marathon in support of Riley Hospital for Children, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and volunteers at a local dance studio. She also participates in the YWCA Women of Empowerment Program.

Johnson plans to study in the medical field or business after graduation. For more information about the Indianapolis NBA Rising Star All-Star program, visit nba.com/pacers.
