STATEHOUSE (June 12, 2018) — The Indiana Department of Education on Tuesday awarded Evansville Day School for student success on AP exams for the 2016-2017 school year, according to State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville).
During the 2018 Indiana AP Recognition Ceremony, the DOE and College Board recognized more than 70 schools for having 25 percent or more of their graduating class earn a score of 3 out of 5 or higher on at least one AP exam.
“Participating in AP classes can help students dive deeper into subjects, explore challenging curriculum and build on the study skills needed for college,” Sullivan said. “Through the courses and exams, students have the potential to stand out on college admissions, earn college credit and skip introductory courses.”
Sullivan said high school students take AP exams after they complete courses designed to demonstrate they are prepared to handle college-level work. With a successful AP exam score, a student can usually earn college credit. AP exams are developed by the College Board, a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization that connects students to success and opportunity in higher education.
