STATEHOUSE (Oct. 5, 2016) – The deadline to apply for the 2016 Enbridge Energy – POWER Scholarship has been extended to Oct. 21, according to State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville). The scholarship is for students interested in going into the engineering field.
The Political Organization for Women’s Education and Representation (POWER) Caucus is collaborating with Enbridge Energy Company to provide $5,000 to a minority female student currently enrolled in a four-year college in Lake, Porter or LaPorte counties.
“As an engineer, I have seen that it is a male-dominated field,” said Sullivan, a member of the POWER Caucus. “This scholarship is one more step we can take to encourage more women to study engineering. Students applying for this scholarship are encouraged to also apply for Enbridge’s paid internship for hands-on engineering experience and great networking opportunities.”
Students wishing to apply must be considered a junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Applicants must also be majoring in chemical, mechanical, petrochemical, civil or electrical engineering.
The application process consists of a 500-word essay describing how the scholarship and obtaining an education in Northwest Indiana will advance them personally and professionally. In addition, two letters of recommendation from a school faculty member or academic advisor and a college transcript are required.
The application can be completed online at www.INPowerCaucus.org or be sent by mail to Enbridge Energy – POWER Scholarship Selection Committee, 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
