STATEHOUSE (Aug. 2, 2023) – State Reps. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) and Alan Morrison (R-Brazil) recently received interim study committee appointments and will take a deep dive into issues facing Hoosiers as they prepare for the next legislative session in January.
Lawmakers serve on interim committees throughout the summer and fall to examine policy topics, gather public input and recommend potential legislation.
Heaton will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance.
"Health care costs continue to financially strain too many Hoosiers and businesses alike," Heaton said. "We need to continue finding ways to alleviate this burden, including taking a look at certain pre-authorization processes that can be an unnecessary barrier to care."
Morrison was appointed vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Environmental Affairs.
Members of the public are welcome to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
