STATEHOUSE (Oct. 21, 2020) – State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) encourages Seymour High School seniors and families to attend a workshop on Thursday, Oct. 29 for help completing and filing the 2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid form.
According to Lucas, INvestEd is offering free guidance on completing and submitting the FAFSA. To be eligible for state and federal financial aid, students must fill out the FAFSA for universities and colleges to determine which students can receive assistance and determine the amount of aid. INvestEd's FAFSA workshop is from 6-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at Seymour High School. Lucas said families should bring tax and income documents of both the parents and students.
"Many students may choose to continue their education after high school, and knowing your options for state and federal aid is so important," Lucas said. "INvestEd has been a tremendous asset for Hoosier families to learn about assistance and how to apply."
INvestEd, an Indiana nonprofit, has been helping families for 40 years understand post-secondary education costs and find ways to pay for college.
Families anywhere in Indiana can speak to an INvestEd expert about questions they have while completing the FAFSA application by calling 317-715-9007. To learn more about INvestEd's work or access free resources and counseling, visit investedindiana.org/literacy.
