STATEHOUSE (Dec. 13, 2018) – State Rep. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) was recently appointed to serve as vice chair of the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
“I am honored and so looking forward to my new role as the vice chair of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee,” Bartels said. “This new committee assignment combined with my role in public safety is my motivation for being a public servant. The safety and security of our citizens, the base of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, including the protection of our food and water, is a top priority. As a veteran, I am also eager to continue working toward policies to help those soldiers who serve our state and country.”
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 3, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.
Standing committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
