STATEHOUSE (Dec. 11, 2018) — State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) was recently appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee.
“Ways and Means is a vital part of the legislative process as the committee works on the state’s biennial budget,” Barrett said. “This blueprint for state operations in 2019 and 2020 will fund key government functions like K-12 education, higher education, Medicaid and public safety.”
Barrett was also selected to serve on the House Public Health Committee, and the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
“I am eager to begin meeting with committee members and receiving input from the public while tackling important issues in our state,” Barrett said. “As a former surgeon, my knowledge of the health care industry and understanding of patient needs will aid me in serving on the public health committee.”
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 3, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.
