STATEHOUSE (Aug. 4, 2020) — Malcomb's Barber & Beauty Salon recently received the Governor’s Half Century Business Award recognizing its longstanding service in the community, according to State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour).

According to Lucas, the North Vernon business has been in continuous operation for 55 years.

"As a small-business owner, I know it takes a nonstop commitment to running and maintaining a business," Lucas said. "This award highlights the hard work the owners have done keeping the doors open for more than half a century and recognizes their continued support to North Vernon and the surrounding area."

The 76 Indiana companies and organizations honored with the Governor’s Century or Half Century Business awards will be invited to participate in the 2021 ceremony, with this year's spring ceremony canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

More than 1,560 Hoosier businesses have been recognized during award's 29-year history.
