STATEHOUSE (July 28, 2020) — Portland's Jay Petroleum recently received the Governor’s Half Century Business Award recognizing its longstanding commitment to the community, according to State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City).

"This local business has been serving Jay County for over six decades," Prescott said. "We are fortunate to have them in our community, providing jobs and helping fuel our economy. I appreciate the dedication and hard work each person put in over the years to accomplish this exciting goal."

According to Prescott, Jay Petroleum was recognized for remaining in continuous operation in Indiana for 61 consecutive years and demonstrating a commitment to serving the community.

The 76 Indiana companies and organizations honored with the Governor’s Century or Half Century Business awards will be invited to participate in the 2021 ceremony, with this year's spring ceremony canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

More than 1,560 Hoosier businesses have been recognized during award's 29-year history.
