STATEHOUSE (July 30, 2020) — Charleston Metal Products Inc. recently received the Governor’s Half Century Business award recognizing its longstanding service in the community, according to State Rep. Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn).

"Growing a business takes hard work and dedication, and Charleston Metal Products exemplifies those characteristics," Smaltz said. "They have innovated and adapted over the years to stay ahead of the curve, and it's paid off. As a small-business owner, I recognize the qualities it takes to be successful and it's no surprise this company was recognized."

Smaltz said Charleston Metal Products Inc. was founded in 1946 and employs over 100 skilled machinists specializing in screw machine products to serve a customer base in the automotive, appliance, hydraulic and agricultural industries.

According to Smaltz, the 76 businesses were recognized for remaining in continuous operation in Indiana for at least 50 or 100 consecutive years and demonstrating a commitment to serving the community. They will be invited to participate in the 2021 ceremony, with this year's spring ceremony canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

More than 1,560 Hoosier businesses have been recognized during award's 29-year history.
