STATEHOUSE (Aug. 20, 2024) – The F. Park Ammerman Farm in Wayne County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1919, according to State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) and State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond).
"Indiana is truly fortunate to have such dedicated farmers, and I congratulate the F. Park Ammerman Farm for this amazing accomplishment," Barrett said. "I wish them continued success and thank all farmers for their longstanding support of Hoosier agriculture."
Farms owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.
"Farms like the F. Park Ammerman Farm are the backbone of our agricultural industry," Raatz said. "Because of farms like theirs, we are one of the top agricultural states in the nation, and I am glad to be able to recognize them for their hard work through the generations."
This farm family was among 104 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their dedication to the state's agriculture industry. Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. The state has honored more than 6,000 farms since the award was established in 1976.
