STATEHOUSE (Aug. 16, 2024) – The Zint Farm in Warrick County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1902, according to State Rep. Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh) and State Sen. Vaneta Becker (R-Evansville).
"Farming has always been a fundamental part of our economy," Ledbetter said. "A huge congratulations to the Zint Farm for this well-deserved recognition, and a thanks for being a consistent presence in the community."
Farms owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.
"The Zint Farm is a great example of Indiana's agricultural legacy and success," Becker said. "I commend them for their over a century of dedication to our state and am proud to represent them as their state senator."
This farm family was among 104 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their dedication to the state's agriculture industry. Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. The state has honored more than 6,000 farms since the award was established in 1976.
