STATEHOUSE (Aug. 17, 2023) – Warrick County farms owned and operated by the same family for at least 100 years were recently honored with Hoosier Homestead awards, according to State Rep. Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh) and State Sen. Vaneta Becker (R-Evansville).
"Farms like these display the spirit and commitment of Indiana’s agricultural heritage," Ledbetter said. "The decades of perseverance these families have exhibited for generations continue to strengthen our communities and state."
Farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.
"Agriculture has always been an integral part of our state, and family-owned farms are the backbone of the industry," Becker said. "We are truly fortunate to have had such dedicated farms for the past 100 to 150 years, and I thank them all for their hard work and service to Indiana."

These farm families were among 103 awardees recently recognized at the State Fair for their commitment to Indiana agriculture.
Hoosier Homestead award ceremonies are conducted yearly in the spring and summer to commemorate farm families for their legacies and contributions to Indiana's agriculture industry. Since the program started in 1976, the state has honored more than 6,000 farms with this designation.
