STATEHOUSE (July 27, 2023) – Area legislators recently received interim study committee appointments and will take a deep dive into issues facing Hoosiers as they prepare for the next legislative session in January.
Lawmakers serve on interim committees throughout the summer and fall to examine policy topics, gather public input and recommend potential legislation.
State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) will serve as vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Child Services. He will also serve as a member on the Commission on Improving the Status of Children in Indiana.
"Across Indiana, we will take a deep dive into state and local child-fatality reports to strategize different ways we can improve child safety," DeVon said. "State agencies and providers give us feedback to use so we can craft solutions that can better support our most vulnerable."
State Rep. Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Education. He will also serve on the Native American Indiana Affairs Commission.
State Rep. Tim Wesco (R-Osceola) will serve as vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Elections. He will also serve as a member on the County Redistricting Commission.
Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
