STATEHOUSE (Oct. 10, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to St. Joseph County legislators.
These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
"Every year, I look forward to welcoming the next intern class to the Statehouse during session," DeVon said. "I encourage any college student or recent grad who is interested in government or public service to apply."
State Rep. Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) said interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.
"As a former intern, I can attest to how valuable of a program this is for aspiring young leaders interested in serving their community," Teshka said. "Through the House internship, students will gain direct experience in the legislative process, learn in-depth about how policy impacts Hoosiers and build connections that can launch or grow a career."
Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
State Rep. Tim Wesco (R-Osceola) said interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
"The House internship program is a great way for young Hoosiers to get involved and learn more about state government," Wesco said. "The program is open to all majors and students will gain valuable real-world experience by participating in the lawmaking process."
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
