STATEHOUSE (Dec. 16, 2020) – State Reps. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) and Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh) were recently appointed to several House standing committees.
Bartels was named assistant majority whip and was reappointed to the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee and the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee, along with becoming a new member of the House Public Policy Committee.
"It's an honor the Speaker of the House asked me to serve as the new assistant majority whip," Bartels said. "I will definitely lean on my background as a former law enforcement officer and as a veteran to help me on these committees and tackle issues important to our area."
Ledbetter will serve as a member of the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee and the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee.
"Advancing the agriculture industry and helping families in need are priorities for House District 75," Ledbetter said. "Serving on these committees is a great opportunity to support the farming industry while helping our state's most vulnerable."
These committee appointments come after Bartels and Ledbetter were elected in November to represent House Districts 74 and 75, respectively, in the Indiana General Assembly. House standing committees will meet throughout the legislative session, which is scheduled to kick off on Jan. 4.
