STATEHOUSE (May 14, 2024) – House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) today released the list of interim study committee topics for lawmakers to review prior to the legislative session beginning in January.

This year, Huston is chair of the Legislative Council, which convened Tuesday at the Statehouse for its annual meeting to assign legislative study topics. The council is comprised of eight members of the Senate and eight members of the House of Representatives, and the chamber leaders alternate as chair each year.

"During the interim we look to our study committees to take deep dives into hot-button policy issues and determine what, if any, legislation should be pursued during the upcoming session," Huston said. "There are a broad range of topics on deck for the summer, and we'll keep our focus on doing what's right by Hoosier taxpayers and building on Indiana's tremendous economic momentum."

Study committees will meet during the summer and fall months to review topics and potentially make recommendations for the 2024 General Assembly to consider for new laws. House and Senate leaders will assign members to each study committee in the coming months.
