Note to the Press – Please include the following statement from State Rep. Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) in your coverage of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s announcement awarding more than $121 million through INDOT’s Local Trax matching grant program.
STATEHOUSE (Dec. 13, 2018) – “Indiana is among the top-five states in the nation for the number of railroad crossings, and unfortunately, in the number of deaths that occur at these intersections. When we began working to create this program in 2017 and established it into law through my House Bill 1002, the goal was to improve the safety and mobility at these crossings to save lives. The matching grant program has served as a pilot and the first step in working to solve this safety issue across the state, and so far, it has been going very well. I was pleased to participate with the governor in the program’s rollout and I look forward to seeing the continued impact of these improvements throughout the state.”
State Rep. Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) represents House
District 4, which includes a portion of Porter County.
