STATEHOUSE (Nov. 23, 2016) – State Rep. Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) will be serving as chair of the House Committee on Public Policy.
Every session, legislative committees meet to gather public testimony, hear input from industry experts and collaborate with other lawmakers to discuss proposed legislation.
“As chair of the Public Policy committee, I’m ready to get to work addressing many of the complex issues facing Indiana,” Smaltz said. “Some of the topics often examined by the committee include Indiana’s tobacco and alcohol laws, and policies affecting the state’s gaming industry. I’ll always do my best to bring a level-headed and responsible approach when leading discussions on these issues, and will work with my fellow committee members to fully explore legislation as it makes its way through the process.”
Smaltz said committee hearings, which occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are also welcomed to attend.
State Rep. Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) represents all of DeKalb County, and portions of Steuben and Allen counties.
