Note to the Press – State Rep. Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) issued the following statement following the Governor's executive order temporarily suspending Indiana's sales tax on gasoline for 30 days.

STATEHOUSE (April 14, 2026) – "Families across northeast Indiana feel the impact of higher gas prices every time they fill up their tank. Those costs add up quickly and affect everything from daily commutes to the price of groceries and other essentials. I support this temporary suspension of the state sales tax on gas aimed to provide immediate relief at the pump and help Hoosiers keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets. We will continue working on solutions to lower costs for our communities."
