STATEHOUSE (April 28, 2017) – Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a bill into law Tuesday giving the state examiner a mechanism to deal with recurring infractions during the auditing process, according to the bill’s author State Rep. Hal Slager (R-Schererville).
“The State Board of Accounts audits state, county and municipal entities and the state examiner serves as its head,” Slager said. “If recurring infractions are found during multiple audits and continue to go uncorrected, this legislation gives due process to those that have been found to be in violation.”
Slager said there have been instances of the same issue being cited in multiple years. This new policy provides the state examiner with a new tool to correct this kind of behavior.
