STATEHOUSE (July 11, 2024) – Local lawmakers recently received appointments to serve on interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and work together to identify solutions.
Legislators will hear testimony from the public, various experts and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January.
State Rep. Jennifer Meltzer (R-Shelbyville) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary.
"This committee gives us an opportunity to examine different ways to make Indiana's courts system more efficient," Meltzer said. "Whether reviewing different homeowner association policies to make living in Indiana better or finding faster ways for foster children to find permanent homes, we'll work hard to review and tackle issues facing Hoosiers.
Meltzer will also serve on the Probate Code Study Committee.
State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation.
"Lawmakers work year-round to identify and address challenges affecting Hoosiers," Criswell said. "Summer study committees are just another aspect of the important work done throughout the year that allow us to take a closer look at issues, collaborate with policy experts and hear from the public. Our constituents expect and deserve results, which is why these committees are a great way to lay the groundwork for new legislation."
State Rep. Robb Greene (R-Shelbyville) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources.
